Children & Adolescent Counseling

We provide comprehensive and confidential counseling to help our
clients who are experiencing distress in their lives. Whatever the
crisis—academic, social, behavioral, emotional, physical or mental
our highly-skilled clinicians are committed to improve the quality
of life through effective counseling and education.

Our licensed therapists use a range of approaches to provide
counseling for families, children and adolescents who are coping
with difficult times or disruptive life events, such as:

  • Depression/anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Abuse/violence
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Mental/physical illness
  • Parent/child relationships
  • Family conflict
  • School behavior
  • Social skills

Our clinicians use a multidisciplinary approach to assess and treat a
broad spectrum of issues. Individual and family therapy includes:

– Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and
adolescents who have experienced trauma or multiple traumas
in their lives.

– Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), an
intervention that has revolutionized the treatment of trauma.
JF&CS has six EMDR practitioners on staff at the licensed
master’s degree level.

– Psychodynamic and family systems therapy models are also used.
These models of therapy are research-informed and focus on the
complex relational processes that lead to conflict and difficulty for
individuals and families.  Our clinicians are trained in addressing
these complex processes and helping individuals and families
discover positive ways of relating.
